Agawam, Massachusetts
Maryann Victoria Swol, 84, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026.
She was born on December 21, 1941, to the late Victoria Bednarz and Walter Swol, who proudly served his country and was killed in action during World War II.
Maryann grew up in Chicopee, Massachusetts and later lived in Agawam. She was a talented painter and artist who appreciated the beauty of nature. In her younger years she enjoyed hiking and spending time outdoors. She especially loved the ocean, listening to the waves and watching the seagulls.
Above all else, Maryann's greatest joy in life was her family. The love she had for her children and grandchildren was the center of her world.
She is survived by her daughters, Gina Gilberti and her partner Ernie Ortale, and Kathy
Cortese and her husband Dominic Cortese.
She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Jerry Kane, Katie Waterman,
and Antonio Green, and her beloved great-grandchildren, Jade and Crew.
Maryann is also survived by her brother, Teddy O'Bara and his wife Arlene, and her
nieces, Rachel and Allison.
Maryann often lovingly referred to herself and her daughters, Gina and Kathy, as ''the three
amigos," a special nickname that reflected the close and unbreakable bond they shared.
Mom, our hearts will never be the same. We will miss you more than words can say, and
your love will live in our hearts forever.
Honoring Maryann's wishes, services will be
private.
