Duane John Pelchat Sr. Obituary (2026)

Duane Pelchat, 74, of Belchertown, Massachusetts, passed away surrounded by family. Born in Vermont, Duane lived life on his own terms. A mechanic by trade, he possessed the skills of his profession but often chose his own path and priorities. His relationships with family were complex and, at times, difficult. Those closest to him experienced both the challenges and consequences of his choices throughout his life. Duane was the husband of Jeanne Pelchat for 52 years and the father of Philip Pelchat, Duane Pelchat Jr. and his wife Kathy, and Dennis Pelchat and his wife Micheline. He was also the grandfather of Nevin, Katrina, Rose, and Duane III. Duane's life left a lasting impact on those who knew him. His story, like many, was marked by both strengths and shortcomings, and he will be remembered through the memories and experiences shared by his family. In accordance with the family's wishes, there will be no formal services. A private graveside service will be held for immediate family. Family would like to acknowledge Janet, Rebecca, Lydia, Emily and Mark from Hospice of Western and Central MA for the wonderful care they provided during his final weeks.
