Arthur E. Chartier, 62, passed away in the wee hours on June fifth surrounded by his loving children. Known for his fantastic sense of humor; he could always bring a smile to the people around him. Art lived life on his own terms. Above all, Art was about family. He and his first wife, Lisa, had three children, Christina, Cassandra, and Andrew; the children were highlights of Art’s life. He has two grandchildren with this family, James and Aaliyah. Also, very close to Art in this family are Shaun and Shy.
Art leaves his second wife, Janice, of ten years and her son, Joe, with whom Art formed a strong bond. Art was an active and involved grandfather. His step-grandchildren Owen and Evan and their mom, Alyssa, were loved as his own. His greatest accomplishment and joy was the family he built.
For employment, Art was Operations and Logistics Manager at Mansfield Paper Company in West Springfield for thirty-six years. He was a committed employee who regularly worked from 4:30 in the morning and he routinely took phone calls from his employees until he went to bed at night. Art was a highly capable manager who was known to find a solution to any problem. He was also an employee of Billie’s Baked Potatoes, at the Big E, every fall.
Arthur and his light-hearted approach to life, will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter and love that followed him where ever he went.
Art would want us to celebrate his life rather mourn his passing. There will be a Celebration of Life sometime in mid-summer. At that Celebration, we may all share our favorite “Art Moments” and continue to keep his spirit alive. You may also add your thoughts and comments to this website.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
